Game Plan for Life

As Super Bowl season draws near, many wonder what the game plan will be for each team to win. The coaches wrestle with decisions on what plays to run, when to run them, etc. Many variables drive their decision-making process to develop the winning game plan.

Life is filled with decisions we must make daily. What to wear, what to eat, where to go, what to say, how to say it and numerous other decisions consume our day and our lives. Because making choices constantly occurs, we often neglect to think about what drives our decision-making process.

People base their choices on what seems right for them, peer pressure, (commonly known as “keeping up with the Joneses”), convenience, and many other reasons. Because of the multitude and complexity of certain decisions, some people find themselves hiring a coach to help with their game plan for life.

A Gift Fit for a King

I woke up this morning and in my prayer time, I asked the Holy Spirit to give me the topic for a Christmas blog. I got dressed for my exercise routine and cranked up the music. Several Christmas songs played, and I hummed along. Then, one my favorites came on… The Drummer Boy. You know the upbeat, familiar, and catchy carol. I decided to sing along.

Come they told me… Pa rum pum pum pum
A new born King to see… Pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring… Pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the king… Pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum…  rum pum pum pum
So to honor Him… Pa rum pum pum pum
When we come

Hacked

“Hacked” … a word most of us dread hearing because of the implications. Well, it happened to me… my computer and the CUTE Collections’ website got hacked. Yes, I guess even CUTE people get hacked, but because we are CUTE, because we are Covered, we can get back up and “Recover” from what the world and the enemy sends us.

I must admit that I got frustrated and discouraged. I felt like throwing in the towel and shutting the website down. I over-reacted. I’m glad I allow people in my life to wake me up and keep me from being distracted by the hacks of the world. The purpose of the hacker was to shut my computer down, to prevent me from doing what I needed to do to run the ministry, and hold me hostage. I needed help against the hacker to fix the problem.

Michelle Carter: Shot Putting and Still CUTE

As I waited in the room where Michelle Carter once attended youth drama as one of my students at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church, my mind traveled to the time I first met this little sweet, shy, and beautiful eleven-year old girl. Despite the fact that today, this young lady stands as a two-time Olympian shot put thrower, ranks number 1 in the USA and number 3 in the world in her class, her sweet demeanor and engaging smile still remain. Dressed in her work out attire and sipping on a cool summer drink, she strolled into the room. After our usual mother to daughter greeting (aka, hugs and kisses), we sat down for a few minutes to chat about our families. But because inquiring minds wanted to know more about this dynamic young woman, the time came to explore Michelle’s world of track and field.

Joanne Dukes: Wearing Pink and still CUTE

On a sunny day in September, I strolled through the quiet halls of the loft to my dear friend’s place for lunch and to chat about her journey. My mind traveled back to the day when she heard the devastating diagnosis: cancer. Never walking in her shoes, I desired to gain a better understanding of her journey since she not only survived, but also thrived.

I knocked on the door. A big radiant smile and the bear hug that greeted me hid any indication this beautiful woman, Joanne Dukes, ever battled cancer. Joanne prepared a delicious lunch for us, but because she knew I love desserts, she also whipped up her famous chocolate cupcakes and banana bread. I sensed the beginning of a sweet interview.

Moriah Jefferson: Hoopin’ It Up and Still CUTE

I sat down to chill and chat with Moriah Jefferson, #4 of the University of Connecticut Huskies, on a nice August evening. Clad in her black chucks, tattered jeans and tailored shirt, she seemed relaxed and eager to engage in some girl talk. Prior to joining the UCONN Huskies, Moriah—a McDonald’s All-American—won a gold medal in the World Championship Competitions, got featured in various magazine and newspaper articles, and received much notoriety for a small, skinny homeschooled point guard. Now, entering her third year as a member of the UCONN Huskies, Moriah feels as if she has finally entered her zone.

Moriah, affectionately called “Mo” by friends and family, reflects no run-of-the-mill young lady.
