The Gift That Keeps on Giving
Jesus… Jesus…Oh what a wonderful child
Jesus… Jesus, so Holy, meek and mild
New life, new hope to all He brings…Listen, as the angels sing
Glory…Glory… Glory… to the new born King.
I love this Christmas song declaring the birth of Jesus Christ. This divine gift from God forever changed the course of our lives. He gave His Son to be the Savior of the world.
As I reflected on this miraculous event, I realized the impact of the gift. Normally, when we give gifts to our family and friends, they are temporary…one time use… or the gifts eventually break down, wear out, or get outdated. Just think about all the past toys and presents we gave our children. Sometimes, before the week ended, the gifts got damaged or they became bored with them. If the gifts were edibles, once eaten…. gone. The gift ended.
Not so with the Father’s gift. God’s divine display of love resulted in a gift that keeps on giving. Jesus’s birth represented the beginning of many gifts that would stem from that one gift of love. Follow me….
The future of mankind looked bleak. We stood quilty… destined for hell because of sin. But a wonderful child born in a manger came. God gave His Son, Jesus as a gift to us.
Jesus, the gift… lived a life of total obedience to the Father so that he could bear our sins on the cross. He gave His life as a ransom for us. He redeemed us.
Jesus, the gift… sent the Holy Spirit to live in those who accepted Him as Savior of their lives. The Holy Spirit gives guidance and helps us in our journey here on earth. He also gives spiritual gifts to every believer to be use in the body of Christ, and He seals us until the day of redemption.
Jesus, the gift… who now sits on the right hand of the Father intervenes and intercedes on our behalf daily. But these divine gifts don’t end on earth.
Jesus, the gift… reserves a place in His kingdom for believers to live with Him forever, and He will eventually give all Christians their due rewards for good works done on earth. The gift that keeps on giving lasts throughout eternity.
This Christmas, while you prepare, decorate, and celebrate with family and friends, consider the gift of the Father… His Son, Jesus. In your quiet time, reflect on all the blessings received from Jesus who daily keeps on giving.
When you wakeup in the morning, He gives you breath in your lungs… strength in your body… eyes to see… ears to hear… a tongue to talk… a mind to think… legs to walk… and the giving goes on and on… too many to list or count.
This gift never gets old or breaks down. It never gets outdated or thrown away. Its eternal. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. And remember, it cost you nothing… but it cost God everything!
So, what will be your response to Him? What gift can you give to God? He needs nothing from you…He just wants you to accept His gift to you… His Son. Accepting Jesus will guarantee that you will experience new life here on earth, new hope, and eternal life. It’s a gift that keeps on giving! And if you already possess the gift, praise the Lord and share… give the gift to someone this Christmas. Give the gift of love.
I don’t know about you, but I accepted the gift a long time ago. The Father choose me. Jesus, the gift, redeemed me. The Holy Spirit sealed me until the day of redemption when I will continue to receive more gifts that started from the one gift of love. Because of this gift, I can joyfully sing,
Jesus… Jesus…Oh what a wonderful child
Jesus… Jesus, so Holy, meek and mild
New life, new hope to all He brings…Listen, as the angels sing
Glory…Glory… Glory… to the new born King.
Why? Simply …
